Taking picture of a bathroom/restroom is weird, I will give you that. But when you are drawing these things, usually several times per project, you come to know what the standards should be, and you end up looking at the bathroom fixtures. I usually end up looking at buildings and building systems in restaurants […]
Very cold and eventually rainy day in early July in Chicago, so weird! But I always enjoy going on an architecture tour.

First Fireproof metal framed building was torn down in 1931, (so that’s why I’ve never seen it, pictured below) … one of the early skyscrapers from 1884. New York had […]
Chicago, Summer of 2012, went on a sold out tour with a couple of architecture school buddies, now it is closed, but the house is still in the courtyard. Awesome modern modular house. Michelle Kaufmann’s company was bought by blu homes and her work is super cool, often featured in Sunset Magazine.

Since I have worked on a boutique hotel, I am always interested in good ones. I found a good one in Chicago, and I have stayed there twice. Such nice details in the rooms, and the layout is really great. Not to mention that the bar/restaurant has a Michelin star, and the food is good […]
There was a tree perfectly lit up at night. There was a TV production going on of American Ninja Warrior, and this was off to the side, so I took advantage.
At the AIA convention in Denver I was lucky enough to pay 100$ to go on a sold out tour to NREL in Golden, CO. It was awesome, they just had built some of the most energy efficient offices in America. Pretty cool stuff, designed by Smith Group out of the Phoenix Office. Well worth […]

I went on a tour of this building in November 2012 at a LEED/Greenbuild conference. It was a great tour. Awesome building. Details are incredible, and the tower is naturally ventilated. Very cool building, one of the only ventilated mid-high rise in the world.
Talk about awesome!
Deconstructed building and Deconstructed Architecture exhibit. I guess that’s what you call their work, especially Hadid’s early Vitra Fire station. Now she’s just more into the soft aesthetic, which is quite a feat. Totally awesome artwork. Really fun day to go up there and visit them.
